School Photo Competition

The AgResearch School Photo Competition will this year become part of the NZ Schools Photographic Competition 2008, under the umbrella of the NZ Schools Visual Arts Charitable Trust based in Hamilton.

Students can choose to enter the general section or the AgResearch Science of Farming section.  

The competition is open to all primary, intermediate and secondary school students.  Winners will be chosen for their originality and their creative interpretation of the themes and students can enter black & white or colour photographs.

Prizes include digital cameras, laminators, canvas reproductions, paid work experience, a scholarship studying Media Arts at WINTEC and the iconic NZSVACT trophies.

Entries close on 25 July 2008 and the awards ceremony will take place on 22 August 2008 at the Academy of Performing Arts, University of Waikato.

  • MAF Agriculture section: Sophie Burridge, Carmel College (Auckland), "Give Us Your Scraps!"

  • Gallagher Group Waikato Student Resident section: Sarah Wilson, Fraser High School (Hamilton), "One Misty March Morning"

  • MAF/Wintec Brisbane Biofutures Award: Sarah Wilson, Fraser High School (Hamilton), "Only One Fruit, Two Skins, Two Flavours"
